The temple of Bhagavan Jagannath is the tallest and grand temple in the world. Which is spread over an area of ​​about 4 lakh square feet. Its height is about 214 feet. The Jagannath temple is located at a distance of 60 km from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa. In this temple, Lord Jagannath sits with his brother Balarama and sister Subhadra. Jagannath temple is considered one of the four dhams. Jagannath Rath Yatra is considered to be the most important festival of Puri. Lakhs of devotees come from every corner of the country to touch and pull this chariot. Devotees believe that by doing this, man attains salvation. It is a 10-day festival. Three different chariots are constructed for Rath Yatra for Balarama, Shri Krishna and Goddess Subhadra. Balaram Ji’s chariot is at the forefront of the rath yatra. After that there is the chariot of Goddess Subhadra and finally the chariot of Jagannath ji.

Form of Jagannath Yatra:

1. Jagannathji’s chariot is called‘Garudadhwaj’ or ‘Kapiladhwaj’.
2. Balaram Ji’s chariot is called‘Taladhwaj’.
3. Mother Subhadra ji’s chariot is called‘Devdalan” and “Padmadhwaj’.

First of all, Balram ji, Mata Subhadra and Lord Shri Krishna ji Rath are taken from Jagannath temple to Gundicha temple. According to the Puranas, Gundicha is considered to be the ultimate devotee of Lord Shri Krishna. For this reason every year Balram, Mata Subhadra and Lord Shri Krishna come here to meet Gundicha.

After reaching the Gundicha temple, Lord Jagannath, Mata Subhadra and Balram ji are bathed with complete law and are given clean clothes. Hera Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of the Jagannath Yatra. On this day Mother Lakshmi comes looking for Lord Jagannath and the Lord leaves the temple and goes on a journey.

Jagannath Yatra Story (Jagannath Yatra Ki Katha):

According to a legend, once all the gopis asked Rohini ji, the wife of the moon, to go to Lord Shri Krishna’s Rasleela. Subhadra was also present at that time. That is why Rohini ji did not think it right to say anything about Lord Krishna’s Raas Leela. When Subhadra went out, he was asked to stay outside and keep in mind that no one should come inside. At the same time, Shri Krishna and Balaram ji come there and stand near Subhadra and start listening to Rohini’s words.

At the same time Narada ji also comes there and sees the three siblings listening to Rohini’s talk. After this Narada ji urged the three to give him divine vision in this form. After this, the three together accepted Narada’s request and fulfilled his wish. That is why Balaram, Subhadra and Jagannath ji (Krishna ji) ji appear in this temple in this form and they are seated there.
