How Annapurna Mata was born:

How Annapurna Mata was born?

It is believed that at a time when water and food began to run out on the earth, causing chaos all around, humans started worshiping Lord Brahma and Vishnu for freedom from the problem of food.

Hearing the compassion of humans, Shri Brahma Dev and Shri Vishnu worshiped Lord Shiva and woke him with yoga posture.

Lord Shiva visited the earth and after this Mata Parvati took Annapurna form and Lord Shiva took the form of monk.

Lord Shiva took alms from Mata Annapurna and distributed it among the people of the earth. Since then, the people of the earth along with all the gods started worshiping the mother Annapurna.

The day Mother Annapurna was born, it was the full moon of Margashirsha month. That is why Annapurna Jayanti is celebrated on Margashirsha Purnima. On this day, food donation has special significance.
