There was a hunter named Gurudruh in the pre-Era period. By killing animals, he kept his family. Once on Shivratri, he went to the forest to hunt. On that day, he did not get any prey during the day and even at night. Only then did he see a lake in the forest He thought I saw the path of hunting on the tree here. Any other creature will drink water here. By thinking of this, he got filled up of water and climbed to the tree. Shivalinga was installed under that tree. Any other creature will drink water here.
After a while there came a girly. As soon as Gurudruh offered arrows on the bow to kill the deer, the leaves of the tree and water fell on Shivlinga. Thus, in the first watch of the night, itself was worshiped by Shivalinga. Only then did Deer see him and asked him what you want. He said that by killing you I will follow my family.

Hearing this, the dialect that my children will be watching my path. I will return them by handing them to my sister. The hunter left him when he said this to Deer. After a while, that Deer's sister came to the lake while searching for her. The hunter saw it and again arrows his bow. This time also, on the second afternoon of night, the address of Bel tree and water fell on Shivling and the worship of Shiva was worshiped.

That Deer also asked his children to come to a safe place. The hunter let him go as well. After a while there came a deer to find his deer. This same thing happened at the same time and in the third afternoon there was also a worship of Shiva. The deer also went away by telling his children to leave in a safe place The three deer has come near the hunter due to being pledged. Seeing all of them together, the hunter was very happy and he again offered his bow and arrow, which was worshiped again in the fourth afternoon.

In this way, Gurudruh remained hungry and thirsty all day long and in the same way, the worship of Shiva was performed, due to which the fast of Shivratri was completed. With the effect of this fast, his sins were immediately consumed. Once virtue arose, he abandoned the idea of ​​killing the deer.

Only then Lord Shiva appeared from Shivling and he boasted to Gurudruh that Lord Rama will come to your house in Tretayug and will befriend you. You will also receive liberation. Thus, Lord Shankar gave salvation to the hunter from Mahahivratri fast.

Shiva means Kalyan. Shiva is the welfare of everyone. Only then it is said that "Satyam Shivam Sunderam" means that the truth is Shiva and Shiva is beautiful.
